From 4 to 6 May the best equestrian circuit in the world returns to Madrid, a city that is betting on the organization of sporting events with media coverage and that in the month of May will receive the best tennis players, bullfighters and riders in the world. making the capital of Spain the epicenter of tennis, bullfighting and world equestrianism.
The Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will celebrate its 108th edition of CSI Madrid, the longest in Spain, and will receive the best riders and horses in the world on its green track. After the success of the past editions, the competition returns to comprise of the international circuit Longines Global Champions Tour, that this year will visit 17 exclusive cities and will distribute 40 million USD in prizes; a record number in the history of equestrian sport.
In Madrid will be distributed about one million euros in two simultaneous competitions, a CSI5 * and a CSI2 * in which a total of 15 tests will be developed, highlighting the LGCT Grand Prix of Madrid on Saturday afternoon and culminating on Sunday with the The Kings Cup Volvo Trophy, which will lower the curtain to the 108th edition.
This year the circuit presents important novelties. The most important of these is the inclusion of Play Offs in Prague. As far as individual competition is concerned (LGCT), the final of the tour will be held as it has been doing so far in Doha in the month of November. The winners of the GP of the season will arrive to Prague to compete in the Grand Prix that will proclaim champion of champions. As far as the team test is concerned (GCL), only the sixteen best teams will come to Prague to try to win.
The GCL has gained more weight and importance this year and the teams have been clearly reinforced with riders of the highest level that will guarantee excitement and top-level competition throughout the venues. In Madrid we will live with special emotion the participation of the host team, Madrid in Motion, formed by Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, Maikel and Eric van der Vleuten, Marc Houtzager and the young Michael G.
