With just one month left to start the Longines Global Champions Tour in Madrid, the details of one of the most important horse-riding events in the world begin.
Thus, from 19 to 21 May the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will host the 107th edition of the Madrid International Jumping Competition, CSI5*, which for the fifth consecutive year will be part of the Longines Global Champions Tour. The entries can be done in the web of the RFHE.
The 107th edition presents important innovations in its sports program. The first of these is that the event returns to the initial format with 3 days of competition, During these days two simultaneous competitions will be held: a CSI5 * and a CSI1 * with a total of 14 events in which more than 120 riders and amazons. More than 200 horses and a prize figure of 890,000 euros make this event one of the most exciting competitions of the year. As every year, the two most important events will be the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Madrid that will be held on Saturday May 20, and the The King’s Cup – Volvo Trophy on Sunday, May 21, in charge of bringing the curtains to the show down.
Another new feature will be the celebration of the second season of the Global Champions League. This year will be held in two days instead of one, doubling the action of the GCL, and for the first time GCL riders will be able to win points in the international ranking, as well as extra money in prizes. Teams can now change horses and / or riders for the two GCL events and the top 25 individual riders will qualify for the LGCT Grand Prix, which now consists of a Jump Off competition, will start from scratch. Thus, the CaixaBank Trophy on Friday will be the first team round and the Massimo Dutti Trophy on Saturday will be the second. In this Trophy we will have several classifications: the one of the teams, the individual of the test and the classification of the 25 best riders for the Grand Prix. Without a doubt, this test that will be full of emotion.
In addition, during the competition visitors will be able to enjoy the Shopping Village, with fashion stands, accessories, food, hospitality …, and this year will again have a market area: tents of modern design, with a wide variety of pop ups.
The Little Riders Corner by Massimo Dutti will represent the children’s area. The little ones can enjoy in a Pony Park so that they can enjoy their first contact with the horse with their “equestrian baptism”. Also, they will learn how to care for and clean the ponies. Next to this zone will be the playground where children will know how to take care of the equestrian material, workshops and games will be organized.
The gourmet area is formed by a large number of food trucks in which the attendees can enjoy the best gastronomy of the city.
