After stops in Doha, Miami Beach, Mexico City, and Shanghai, the 2024 edition of the world's most important show jumping circuit touches European soil for the first time at its only Spanish venue: Madrid.
From May 17th to 19th, the Longines Global Champions Tour will bring all the spectacle of the 'Champions of Equestrianism' to the iconic green arena of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, enveloping the glamour of world-class jumps with an excellent offering of leisure, commerce, and gastronomy that has already made the event a must-visit during Madrid's spring.
In this Longines Global Champions Tour 113 CSI 5* Madrid, whose tickets - and reservations for VIP Hospitality - are already on sale at www.oxersport.com, some of the world's best horse-rider pairs in show jumping will converge. The competition will once again bring together the elite of the international equestrian scene to the Spanish capital, with rider Eduardo Álvarez Aznar as the main star. After the first three events, and pending the one in Shanghai - on May 3rd -, he is currently ranked first in the LGCT standings with 97 points, five ahead of Austrian Max Kühner and 31 ahead of Frenchman Simon Delestre.
At the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, other possible candidates to represent Spain at the Paris 2024 Olympics will also gather, such as Mariano Martinez Bastida, who is competing this weekend at the FEI World Cup Finals in Riyadh, Sergio Álvarez Moya, and Manuel Fernández Saro, among others.
During the three days of competition, the top-ranked riders in the world and several Olympic and World Cup champions will vie for victory on the grass of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, which, among all the events over the weekend, will offer nearly €1,000,000 in prize money.
The Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Madrid on Sunday afternoon, a qualifier for the overall championship standings, will be one of the highlights of this 113 CSI 5* Madrid, with obstacles set at 1.60m only suitable for the most experienced riders and fittest horses. But also, on the green arena, other unmissable events await lovers of this sport, such as the century-old Copa SM del Rey Trofeo Caser Grupo Helvetia, with obstacles set at 1.50m, which will take place on Saturday afternoon, the Global Champions League, which on Friday will bring together the 14 most powerful private teams on the planet - including the host team Madrid In Motion, sponsored by Marqués de Riscal and Massimo Dutti - and more than a dozen exciting trophies that will make this Madrid international championship the epicenter of world equestrian jumping throughout the weekend.
Not just competition
This top-level sports proposal is also the best setting to enjoy a complete weekend of leisure in the best atmosphere, whether with family or friends. In addition to a commercial village, with fashion and accessory brands and various equestrian brands for fans, around the green arena, there will be the stands of sponsors once again, some of them with fun games and surprises - like the one by Gilmar -, a children's area with the always-celebrated Pony Park by ¡HOLA!, and a children's activities area for the little ones run by Porsche. All this, enlivened with live music and DJ sessions on the Mahou stage at the end of each day.
There will also be a food truck area, with national and international food for all tastes, as well as an artisanal ice cream parlor and the wine bar by Marqués de Riscal, which returns as a sponsor to this event at the Club de Campo. Finally, attending this Longines Global Champions Tour 113 CSI 5* Madrid can also become a true premium experience thanks to the VIP Hospitality provided by the organization. In this edition, 65 VIP tables - six guests per table - and VIP boxes - with capacities of 12 to 30 people - will be set up, offering exclusive services - from buffet options to gastronomic activations and show cooking - and the always exquisite catering by U Zalacaín La Finca.
Tickets now on sale
Tickets can now be purchased through the website www.tickets.oxersport.com, with prices ranging from €14 to €23, as well as weekend passes for €41 (€31 for federated individuals).
Children between 7 and 13 years old will receive a discount of up to 50% off the indicated prices, while those younger than that age will have free entry.
