The Belgian rider took victory in the Longines Casas Novas World Cup Grand Prix. The podium was completed by Robert Whitaker and Jesús Garmendia Echevarría.

It was the most anticipated moment of the whole weekend and it did not disappoint anyone.

The Longines Grand Prix Casas Novas World Cup promised a top-level show to close the International Show Jumping Competition held this weekend in A Coruña and, without a doubt, it met the expectations of the public that filled the stands of the Casas Novas indoor arena.

40 of the best riders in the world met at 5:00 p.m. at the Galician equestrian center with a clear objective: to win the Grand Prix and earn points to qualify for the World Cup final to be held in Basel in spring 2025.

Before them, a stage to match the occasion, one of the best tracks on the circuit and a course with heights of 1.60m and a timed jump-off.

The riders showed their quality from the first round, with a total of 15 teams qualifying for the final jump-off.

The Casas Novas indoor track was the scene of a frenetic jump-off in which no one could beat Philipp Weishaupt. The Belgian rider made a magnificent intervention accompanied by Coby 8, achieving a time of 36.11 seconds. Flora Pérez, representing Casas Novas, was in charge of presenting the prize to the new champion.

The second fastest rider in the race was the last to go out on the track, the British Robert Whitaker. Forming a duo with Vermento, he completed the course in an incredible time of 36.56 seconds, coming very close to the coveted first place.

The third position in this Grand Prix was the one that most excited the public. The Spanish rider, Jesús Garmendia, raised the stands of Casas Novas after completing the race in 37.19 seconds, a time that allowed him to dream of victory for much of the jump-off. Finally, the Spaniard, accompanied by Callias, closed the championship with a great third place.

We have thus reached the end of a new edition of one of the CSI 5*W competitions most loved by riders, horsewomen and fans. Casas Novas has once again given us moments of excitement and competition at the highest level. The Coruña equestrian centre closes this edition with its mind already set on the European Championships that will be held next July in the same venue.
