RIDERS FROM 18 COUNTRIES TO COMPETE IN MAEZA
25 Jun 2024The fourth edition of the CSI Maeza will gather an important national and international participation.
The Maeza International Show Jumping Competition was officially presented this morning at the facilities of the Yeguada Finca Maeza, where the equestrian event will take place from July 5 to 7.
The media, sponsors and authorities attended the presentation ceremony. Álvaro Arrieta, president of Oxer Sport, highlighted the competitive national and international representation that will take part in this year's competition. Among the Spaniards are regular representatives of the top national team, several of them candidates for the next Olympic Games in August: the recent winners of the semifinal of the Deauville Nations Cup: Mariano Martínez Bastida, Sergio Álvarez Moya, Imma Roquet and Iván Serrano.
This edition, in addition, the CSI Maeza presents the additional Mancomunidad de la Sidra Trophy for the best Spaniard, to which all the above mentioned will be candidates.
The international representation, which this year will include riders of 18 nationalities, will be headed by names already known in Sariego for their repeated participation, such as Thibault Philippaerts, Eric Van der Vleuten Jr., Duarte Seabra and Fernando Martínez Sommer. In addition, new participants will be added, such as the Brazilian Marlon Modolo and the British Michael Whitaker and Laura Renwick.
Another of the additional trophies to be disputed in this edition will be the Sariego Town Hall Trophy for the best U-25 rider, in which 24 riders will participate out of the 88 total who will compete in the competition.
The president of the Mancomunidad de la Sidra, Juan Antonio González Peláez, showed his support to the event, highlighting his willingness to collaborate fully. González Peláez expressed to CSI Maeza: “I wish you the best of luck. I am sure you will be a great success.
Finally, Cruz Maestre, director of Yeguada Finca Maeza, explained that the next edition of the international competition will once again have a charitable character. This year, the proceeds from ticket sales will go to three different causes: Asociación Raitana, Masquechuchos and Colunga Gatuna. The tickets, he announced, can be purchased through the event's website www.csimaeza.com and at the ticket offices during the days of the competition.
After the presentation, the attendees were able to enjoy a snack and a refreshing glass of Foncueva cider on the hot day today at the facilities of the Stud Farm.
