Maeza International Show Jumping Competition kicks off with Billy Twomey's victory in the BMW Autosa Trophy

The Maeza 3* International Show Jumping Competition started today with three exciting events, highlighting the impressive performance of Irishman Billy Twomey, who was crowned in the BMW Autosa Trophy

With a high level of sport and a vibrant atmosphere, the Sariego facilities were the perfect setting for the start of the Maeza CSI3*. The big test of the day, with obstacles at a height of 1.45m, had 13 of the 49 participants qualifying for the tiebreaker. Billy Twomey, on his horse “Ace of Hearts Z”, took the victory thanks to an impeccable ride of 40.00 seconds. Spain's Ismael García Roque, riding “Brazilia DK Z”, finished second with a time of 41.68 seconds, followed closely by Teresa Blázquez Abascal and “Nasa de Toxandría”, who finished in 41.87 seconds. In total, six riders managed to finish the tiebreaker with no faults.

Juan Carlos Sama Álvarez, Commercial Director of BMW Autosa, was in charge of presenting the trophy to Twomey. After his victory, the Irishman expressed his satisfaction with his horse's performance.

Ascor Trophy

The day began at 8:45 a.m. with the Ascor Trophy, a two-phase test with a height of 1.25 meters and 29 participants. Spain's Fidel Davila, riding “Jahifa 17.23”, took the victory with a time of 19.47 seconds in the decisive phase. Ana Mateos Bernáldez, riding “Providence 3”, came in second place with 20.46 seconds, and Frenchman Axel Narolles, riding “Cupidam du Pouey”, took third place with 21.14 seconds.

José Manuel Valdés Loredo, CEO of Ascor S.A., presented the trophy to the winner.

Artiem Trophy

Mariano Martínez Bastida dominated the second test of the day, 1.35m high, with a very fast ride without faults on “Action Force”, completing the course in 54.25 seconds. Jesús Garmendia, with “Valut 2”, was close to victory, finishing in 54.27 seconds.

Guillermo Díaz Allaga, Commercial and Operations Director of Artiem, presented the trophy to Martínez Bastida, who commented: “The race was quite competitive, with many pairs; I went out with my horse ‘Action Force’, which is very fast, and I decided to go out to the track to try to win and things went well”.

Additional Trophies Sariego City Council and Cider Shire

In the provisional classifications of the Sariego City Council Trophy, destined to the best U-25 rider, after today's day, the Spanish rider Diego Ramos leads it. The additional Cider Shire Trophy, which rewards the best Spanish rider, is headed by Ismael García Roque.

Saturday's Program

The second day of the CSI3* will continue on Saturday, July 5 at 11:15 with the Clínica Equina Maeza Trophy. At 13:45 the Eulen Group Trophy will take place, and the program will close with the CaixaBank Trophy from 17:00.
