Madrid, November 26, 2024. IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK (IMHW), an unmissable event for horse lovers and one of the most exclusive experiences on the Madrid sporting calendar, once again turns Madrid into the world capital of equestrianism. From next Thursday, November 28 to Sunday, December 1, IMHW will host the FEI Dressage World CupTM and the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM, bringing together the best pairs in the world in each discipline and drawing the attention of fans and curious onlookers to Halls 12 and 14 of the IFEMA MADRID Fairgrounds. In addition, for the first time in its history and after many years supporting this discipline, IMHW will host the Copa del Rey de Doma Vaquera.
However, not everything will be competition in this multidisciplinary proposal around the world of horses: this first four-day edition of IMHW will start with the magical dressage show by Santi Serra - presented by the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX), whose Veterinary Clinical Hospital is the official equine medical service of IMHW -, a high-quality entertainment suitable for all audiences, even for those who are not fans of horse riding. For this comeback (he already triumphed with his animals in the 2012 and 2018 editions of IMHW), Serra has prepared a show in which Arabian, Friesian and American horses ('appaloosa') will participate, as well as falcons, dogs and some surprises yet to be revealed. Without ropes, chairs or bits, only listening to their voice, the animals will work freely to shape a unique show that will open this edition of IMHW with a bang.
In addition, this opening will also include the Cossack vaulting show by the French company Compagine Impulsion, which is visiting our country for the first time, as well as an extraordinary performance by the Clarion and Timbales Band of the Royal Guard Squadron.
MASERLIST CSI 5* World Cup Show JumpingDuring the three days of competition (from Friday to Sunday), the best horses in the world, true stars of IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK, will form pairs with the best riders in the international ranking. Among them, three riders installed in the top 10, such as the Swiss Olympic medalist Steve Gerdat, current number 2 in the world; the British Ben Maher, number 3 in the FEI ranking, Olympic champion and one of the riders in the best form at the moment (he arrives after winning the CSI5*W Equita Lyon with a double zero in the Masters); and the veteran Austrian rider Max Kühner, number 6 in the world. Also not missing from the Madrid event will be the Swiss Martin Fuchs, who this season continues to reap important victories with his horse L&L Upgrade; the French Simon Delestre, who won a bronze medal in Paris 2024, in the team event; and the essential Marcus Ehning, a German rider who has won the Madrid World Cup three times, the last time in the last edition in 2023.
As for the Spanish representation, IMHW welcomes the participation of Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, number 1 in the Spanish ranking, who also arrives in Madrid in great form after finishing third in the Lyon World Cup. Álvarez Aznar will lead the representation of Spanish riders, which also includes names such as Mariano Martinez Bastida, Teresa Blázquez Abascal, Jesús Garmendia and the young rider Sira Martínez.

CDI 5*FEI Dressage World CupTMThe FEI Dressage World CupTM, taking place at the IMHW between Friday and Saturday, will feature a total of 12 riders from eight countries, including Spain’s Beatriz Ferrer Salat, who has participated in five Summer Olympic Games between 1996 and 2020, and will compete alongside other Spanish riders such as José Antonio Garcia Mena, Alejandro Asencio Méndez, Claudio Castilla Ruiz and Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo. The list of entrants also includes French riders Pauline Basquin (number 13 in the FEI rankings), German rider Carina Scholz and young Diana Porsche, one of Austria’s great hopes in international equestrian sports.
MASERLIST DOMA VAQUERA
Copa del Rey de Doma VaqueraFor the first time in its history and after many years supporting this discipline, IMHW will host the Copa del Rey de Doma Vaquera, in which true stars will participate such as Amador Martín López, with his horse Maserati, Jonatán Peña Cordero, with Temple, and Miguel Ángel García Campos with Tardío, among others. These outstanding riders, who already demonstrated their excellence in the Spanish Championship, will compete again in what promises to be a spectacular edition of the Copa del Rey, one of the most eagerly awaited events within IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK. This Copa del Rey, which will hold qualifying rounds throughout the day on Friday and will be decided on Saturday from 6:00 p.m., will have 40 pairs (35 in order of registration and 5 invited by the Organizing Committee), and will distribute more than €10,000 in prizes.
However, the doma vaquera will offer various competitions to its fans from Thursday itself, such as the Marjoman Trophy for young horses (4:00 p.m.), and the Casa Vidal Trophy for young riders, which will be held on Saturday (10:00 a.m.), both with free entry.
More equestrian excitementIn addition to these top-level competitions, the IMHW main track will also host some of the traditional equestrian events on Friday and Saturday nights, such as the IFEMA 6-Bar Trophy, a test of power that is as entertaining as it is fun, which is a huge success with the public each year (Friday); and the Porsche Jump & Drive Trophy, a must for motor and adrenaline lovers, which will be produced for the first time by the DAZN TV channel (Saturday). In addition, both days will close their sessions with the no less celebrated Pony Turf by AON, a spectacular, exciting and dizzying pony race that always manages to get all attendees on their feet.
On Sunday, various awards will be presented, such as the Air Europa Trophy for the Best Rider of the competition and the Marca Trophy for the Best Spanish Rider, as well as the Madrid Horse Week award, which has been awarded to Jaume Puntí Dachs and María Álvarez del Pontón. With this recognition, which in recent editions has been received by figures such as the journalist Paloma del Río, the legendary rider Fernando Martínez de Albornoz "Pichi" and HRH Infanta Doña Elena "for her invaluable contribution to the promotion of equestrianism", the Board of Trustees of the MHW Foundation and its Organising Committee shed light on the raid, a demanding endurance discipline in which, thanks to these two athletes, Spain is a world power.
"Salón del Caballo"
As one of the essential events of the Madrid autumn, this edition of IMHW will also offer a good menu for all audiences of shows, activities and demonstrations - of disciplines such as natural dressage, working horsemanship, riding, western and working with cattle - in the show ring of the Horse Show. There will also be the usual Commercial Village with nearly a hundred stands selling fashion, equestrian items, veterinary items, catering, food and decoration, where all kinds of products can be purchased and participate in daily draws, as well as a large gastronomic area run by Estrella Damm, Rodilla and Hamburguesa Nostra. In addition, the little ones will be able to enjoy numerous leisure activities in the always celebrated Pony Park by ¡HOLA!, the dizzying Scalextric by Porsche and the fun Children's Activities Area by Grupo Eulen.
On Saturday afternoon, the most ardent horse racing fans will have the opportunity to get close to some of their favourite stars, such as Sira Martínez, who will be signing autographs at the ¡Hola! stand, and Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, who will do the same at the Marca stand.
In this 2024 edition, IMHW once again has the support of IFEMA Madrid, the Community of Madrid and the City Council of the capital; and relevant brands such as Longines, ¡Hola!, Porsche, Grupo Eulen, Estrella Damm, Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio – Official Veterinary Clinical Hospital of the event, Gilmar, Rodilla, AON, Air Europa, Marca (which will be hosting a live programme from its stand), Radio Marca, Ruber, Exterior Plus, Fuera de Serie and Hamburguesa Nostra, an important list of sponsors which also includes Jet Set Sports, a North American company with 40 years’ experience offering hospitality packages for major international sporting events, and which this year has been joined for the first time by Mutua Madrileña and Virtus wines. In addition, the organisers have once again placed their trust in the UZALACAÍN team to guarantee the success of the event in the gastronomic part of its exclusive VIP boxes and tables.
