Daniel Deusser and Robert Whitaker, joint winners of the IFEMA 6 Bars Trophy
30 Nov 2024The first day of IFEMA Madrid Horse Week concluded with an exciting and vibrant Six Bars, IFEMA Madrid Trophy, which ended with a historic shared victory between Germany's Daniel Deusser and Great Britain's Robert Whitaker. Both riders, after overcoming a challenging course of up to 1.90 meters, finished tied with 4 points at the last obstacle.
With packed stands and an unbeatable atmosphere, the Six Bars test closed the opening day of the competition at IFEMA Madrid Horse Week. A total of twelve riders, with great experience in this type of challenge, began the course, which consisted of two vertical finals, the last of them at 1.60 meters high.
Ten of the pairs managed to pass this first section without fault, advancing to the first tiebreaker, where the obstacle was raised to 1.75 meters. Only seven groups managed to pass without penalty, giving way to the next tiebreaker, which included a final vertical of 1.90 meters.
The final outcome of the Six Bars test, consisting only of the second line of four verticals, left Daniel Deusser, with Pepita van T Meulenhof BR, and Robert Whitaker, with Gentlemen vh Veldhof, tied at the top of the standings with 4 points. Third place went to Spanish rider Eugenio Grimaldi, who, with his horse Chanimo, finished the course with 8 points.
The trophy presentation was made by Mr. Ángel Asensio, who presented the trophy to the shared winners, Daniel Deusser and Robert Whitaker, putting the finishing touch to a day full of excitement and great performances at IFEMA Madrid Horse Week.
Tomorrow the exciting competitions will continue at IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK, starting at 9:00 with the CSI 1* Trofeo Ciudad de Madrid (1.40m). At 10:50 the Exterior Plus Trophy (1.25m) will take place, followed at 12:45 by the CSI 5* Trofeo Virtus (1.45m). At 14:45 it will be the turn of the FEI Dressage World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle, Eulen Group Trophy. At 18:30, riders will compete in the Estrella Damm Trophy (1.50m), while at 21:10 the Pony Turf will take place. The day will close with the spectacular Jump&Drive Porsche at 22:10, which for the first time will be broadcasted by the specialized motor network DAZN. In addition, the long-awaited and prestigious final of the Copa del Rey de Doma Vaquera Trofeo Pavo will be held.
