Mateos and Martínez Bastida, winners in Seville
30 Sep 2024The National Jumping League of the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation (RFHE) covered its sixth stage this weekend, with the CSN5* of the Real Club Pineda de Sevilla, which brought together more than 350 horses.
The grand prizes that count towards the League were contested on Sunday. Firstly, the Gran Premio Securitas Direct of the Liga Plata level, with obstacles of 1.40 metres, in which Mariano Martínez Bastida won with “Quando van den Heuvel”. The rider from Murcia won in the jump-off, in which he beat the young Elena Appendino, second with “Pompei van de Fruitkorf”. Third was the veteran Jesús Garmendia, with “Valut 2”.
In the Real Maestranza Caballería Grand Prix in Seville, which counts towards the Gold League, with obstacles of 1.50 metres, only 3 teams managed to complete the course without fail, with the Extremaduran rider attached to the Madrid equestrian centre, Pedro Fernando Mateos, winning the jump-off with “Flach Mouche”. He was only 30 hundredths of a second ahead of Mariano Martínez Bastida, who at this level had to settle for second place with “Messento”. In third place was a young Andalusian rider, Luis Ortiz Agüera, with “Hvedholms Cashew”. This is Pedro Fernando Mateos’ second victory in a 2024 Gold League Grand Prix.
After the results in Seville, Kevin González de Zárate (186 points) leads the Silver League classification, ahead of Pello Elorduy (174) and Rubén Gómez Crespo (164). In the Gold League, Pello Elorduy and Kevin González de Zárate (182) remain in first place, with Rubén Gómez (148.5) third.
