This morning, the official presentation of the Longines Global Champions Tour Mexico, presented by GNP Mexico Jumping, was held at El Palacio de Hierro, which will take place from March 27 to 30 at the Campo Militar Marte. Mexico will be the second venue of the circuit in 2025 and the only stage in Latin America. More than 150 international riders from more than 25 countries have arrived in Mexico, accompanied by around 225 horses. Some of the best riders in the world ranking will compete at Campo Marte, including Max Kühner (AT), Simon Delestre (FRA), Maikel van der Vleuten (HOL), Edwina Alexander Tops (AUS), Christian Ahlmann (GER), Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) and John Whitaker (UK).

We were joined by the following speakers:

  • Jan Tops, founder and president of the Longines Global Champions Tour and the Global Champions League. He is one of the most prominent and experienced figures in the equestrian world. In 2006 he founded the circuit, revolutionizing international show jumping and promoting equestrian sport globally. As a rider, he represented the Netherlands at four Olympic Games and several European championships.
“I invite everyone to attend this incredible event over the weekend, as the conditions for this year are favorable and, as every year, we expect it to be a resounding success,” he commented at a press conference.
  • Francisco Pasquel, director of the Longines Global Champions Tour Mexico, presented by GNP Mexico Jumping. Thanks to his passion and experience in equestrian sports, he has managed to bring the best riders and horses in the world to Mexico, positioning the Mexican venue as one of the best competitions on the circuit. Francisco is general director of EQ Marketing, the equestrian events organizing company.
“Thanks to dedication and effort, we have managed to make Mexico a reference in the circuit and we are very excited about this edition,” he highlighted in the presentation.
  • Katrin Eckermann, outstanding German rider. Her most important achievements include the individual and team gold medal at the 2010 Continental Youth Championships, her victory at the Grand Prix Hamburg in 2014 and at the World Young Horse Championships in 2019. In 2022, he won the CSI5* Rotterdam with Cascadello Boy and, in 2023, he achieved back-to-back wins in the Longines Global Champions Tour of Miami Beach with Cala Mandia.

  • Juan Manuel Cossío, president of the Mexican Equestrian Federation since 2013, the only president elected for four terms, until 2028. He has managed to bring to Mexico international competitions of great prestige, such as the Nations Cup in Xalapa, and has been key in the growth of equestrianism in the country. It has been recognized by CONADE and CODEME for its sporting excellence, and for being the best Federation in Mexico.
“The support and passion for equestrianism in Mexico continues to grow, and events like the Longines Global Champions Tour are a great platform to continue promoting the sport,” said Cossío.
  • Rafael David Faes, International Director of the Mexican Equestrian Federation. It has facilitated the participation of Mexican riders in international competitions, positioning Mexico as the eleventh country in the world ranking and the second in America with the most international competitions.
“Mexico has established itself as an international benchmark in the equestrian field, and more and more Mexican riders have the opportunity to compete at the world level thanks to events like this one,” added Faes.
  • Guillermo Ramírez Franco, Deputy Director of Sports of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports.

The sport program of the event includes a CSI 5 with a prize purse of €1,026,000 and a CSI 2 with a prize purse of over €125,600. The most important event of the weekend will be the Grand Prix of Mexico Longines Global Champions Tour, presented by GNP Seguros, which will be held on Sunday at 13:00 hours (local time). With a course of 1.60 meters high and a tie-breaker, this event will have a prize purse of 720,000 €.
